To empower marginalized communities with access, control, and ownership over natural resources for sustainable and dignified living.

Vanasiri Rural Development Society (VRDS), registered in 2004, is a non-governmental, non-profit organization based in Haveri district, Karnataka. It works to improve livelihoods for rural and urban poor families through sustainable agriculture, resource management, and social empowerment. VRDS supports over 10,000 families across 50–60 villages with programs focused on skill development, girl child education, and natural resource conservation. The organization fosters community-based initiatives like the Labor Bank and Farmers Producer Organizations. VRDS advocates for child rights and works to ensure year-round employment for migrant workers. Through partnerships, VRDS enhances infrastructure and drives social change for economic resilience.

Events

Empowering Girl child education program in Haveri, Karnataka.

Empowering Girl Child Education through Material Distribution Vanasiri Rural Development Society (VRDS), Ranebennur, Haveri, organized a program to empower girl child education by distributing educational materials to 100 needy girls from 15 high schools. The students, studying in 8th, 9th, and 10th grades, received 20 different essential educational materials each. Program Highlights - Aim: To ensure girls' education continues without dropout from schools. - Chief Guest: Dr. Vijay Mahantesh Danammanavar, Deputy Commissioner, Haveri, inaugurated and addressed the program, distributing educational materials and appreciating VRDS and donors for their support. - Distinguished Guests: District Education Officer Shri Suresh Huggi, Deputy Director, Women and Child Development Officer Shri Shrinivas Aladatti, BEO Shri MH Patil, and other education experts and resource persons participated. Awareness Creation During the program, awareness was created about: - Prohibition of Child Marriage - Child Labor - POCSO Act Silver Jubilee Celebration VRDS is celebrating its silver jubilee and plans to support 500 students with educational materials over the next two years. Additionally, four best achievers in Karnataka will be recognized for their contributions to various development works. Empowering Rural Livelihoods and Sustainability in Haveri District

In Haveri district, Karnataka, our dedication lies in enhancing the livelihoods of all landless households. We achieve this by amplifying employment opportunities through initiatives like MGNREGA and farm labor. Concurrently, our efforts focus on reducing agricultural input costs for small-scale farmers. This commitment extends across 17 villages spread across three blocks: Ranebennur, Hirekerur, and Byadgi. Through collaborative efforts, we strive to uplift rural communities and foster sustainable development.
